About MARKMA

Updated: 2026-09-25

MARKMA is a marketing math project for small businesses, self-employed entrepreneurs and marketers. Its goal is to turn a business target into a checkable model of customer acquisition economics.

What MARKMA does

MARKMA helps answer practical questions:

  • how much you can pay for a customer, lead or click without operating at a loss;
  • how many sales, leads and clicks are needed to meet a revenue target;
  • how much advertising budget you will need;
  • whether current advertising pays back;
  • which metric needs to change to make advertising profitable.

Each question has a calculator and a reference page for the relevant metric. The pages link to related material.

How the project works

Calculations run in the browser using exact arithmetic. The site requires no account, does not store calculations on a server and does not rely on external APIs or external AI services. You can share a calculation by link or print its result using your browser.

Who is responsible for the material

The project's editorial team prepares, checks and updates the material. Names and professional credentials are published only after verification. See the editorial policy.

What MARKMA leaves out

MARKMA does not provide legal, tax or investment advice, fetch advertising platform rates automatically, or substitute market averages for your own data. The limits of each calculation are described in the methodology.
